Getting automatic updates from the JJG Water Cooler is easy. RSS can keep you updated on the latest posts without having to actually visit the site every time. RSS (real simple syndication) lets you collect information from various websites in a “feed” and puts it all in one place – either a reader or your e-mail in box. If you receive news updates, sports scores, stock tickers, or weather reports, then you’ve probably already signed up for a feed or two and may already have a reader, so you’re probably already familiar with the concept. If not, read on.
Once you’re on our site, you may see an orange icon
on the toolbar of your web browser. It’s automatic on many browsers.
Click on the feed icon
on the toolbar and it will prompt you to subscribe to the site. Your browser will go to a new page with a bar across the top like this. Then click on “Subscribe to this feed” (circled in red).
Once you click on that, a box will pop up. Click on “Subscribe.”
That’s it! The feed will now be automatically picked up by your web browser when the site is updated. There are a couple of ways to access your feed. You can see it through your “Favorites” by clicking on the star icon in the upper left corner. Feeds will be one of the catergories. Click on JJG Water Cooler and the posts will appear.
Even easier, you can just check your e-mail inbox to see when new posts have been published. Subscribing to the feed will also place it under RSS Feeds in Outlook. Simply click on the feed and the post will appear as an e-mail message.
If you already have a reader from Yahoo! or Google you can keep up with the blog that way as well.
If this doesn’t answer all of your questions, let us know and we’ll find a way to keep you up on all the happenings around the water cooler.
